In League In Harmony

What is In League In Harmony?
With a focus on Respect, Inclusion, Diversity and Social Cohesion, In League In Harmony falls within the Pillar 3 of the NRL's Social Impact strategy, promoting social cohesion and positive peace by addressing issues such as social disengagement, racism, gender inequality and bullying; empowering youth to be agents of change for a more cohesive society.
Involvement in Rugby League provides opportunities for the youth to develop social skills in addition to the fundamental playing elements. By being a part of the program, our participants are empowered to acknowledge, appreciate and celebrate the diversity among their peers and the wider community. The program unites the youth to explore how their similarities and differences provide opportunities for them to move forward together in harmony. The program delivers theory-based and practical activities which have been designed around the NRL’s four core beliefs – Inclusive, Discipline, Positive & United. Through these experiences, the participants will have a greater capacity to positively contribute to a more socially-cohesive society.
The program includes four (4) phases:
- Phase 1: Six (6) x In League In Harmony school-based workshops.
- Phase 2: In League In Harmony Celebratory Gala Day
- Phase 3: Peace Advocate Workshop
- Phase 4: NRL Peace Project Submissions
Great to see students engaged with external education programs again, especially with Rugby League. This school needs programs like In League in Harmony. It keeps them focused on what’s important and relevant.
