The Warriors are on the board in the NRLW return after shutting out the Eels 14-0 in their first game at Go Media Stadium since September 2019.

Our second Sunday game took us to the Gold Coast for a Queensland derby between three-time premiers the Broncos and Karyn Murphy's Titans, who made a slow start to their campaign with a loss to the Cowboys.

The visitors proved too strong from the get-go and burst out of the blocks to set up a dominant win.

Titans v Broncos

Titans v Broncos – Round 2, 2025

Post match

Titans

Titans: Round 2

Broncos

Broncos: Round 2

Full-time: A huge victory for the Broncos who ran in eight tries to one, with a double to Tamika Upton. The star fullback however came off the field early with a cork. While both sides made 11 errors each and the Titans only gave up two more penalties (10-8), the defensive stats tell the story, with the Gold Coast missing 49 tackles compared to 15 for the Broncos.

70th min: Denied just moments earlier, Sauaso gets her try to end the game, sealing a dominant Broncos victory. Teitzel converts for a 44-4 lead.

67th min: The Broncos get another try back, swinging the ball out wide to their right with Julia Robinson running over. The try is a bitter bill for the Titans who only two tackles before had done great work to hold up Shalom Sauaso, getting in numbers to push her back into the field of play, but they weren't able to reset, with the Broncos seeing the overlap. Teitzel misses the kick and it's 38-4

Crowd update: 10,768 people have come in to watch the Titans face the Broncos.

59th min: Titans finally get on the board, with Jasmine Solia pouncing on a Lauren Brown kick in the in-goal. Brown can't convert from out wide however and scores remain 34-4

57th min: A debut to forget for Broncos forward Reegan Hicks unfortunately, sent off for a dangerous tackle.

53rd min: Things go from bad to worse for the Titans, with skipper Georgia Hale sent to the sin bin for what was ruled to be a hip drop on Bri Clark who has come from the field with an ankle issue.

50th min: A rare error from the Broncos, with Spreadborough denied a second after losing the ball over the line. Good work from the debutant fullback Patston, forcing an the drop.

45th min: Upton gets her second to push the Broncos further in front. It was a fairly even 10 minutes to open the second half, but a one-on-one steal from Lenarduzzi on Lily Kolc gives the visitors good position and they work they way down the right side before going back inside to their fullback. Teitzel converts for 34-0

Halftime: A dominant 28-0 lead for the Broncos at the break, with the visitors producing some flashy attack to blow the Titans off the park early. There have been too many errors for the home side which has contributed to a 40 percent possession rate. The most telling issue however has been their defensive lapses, with 27 missed tackles in the half, compared to only four to the Broncos.

26th min: After a short period of relief for the Titans when they had the ball, an error in their attacking 10m zone gives the ball right back to the Broncos and they launch an attack from their own half, with Upton making a break in a raid that ends with a charge from Chelsea Lenarduzzi who goes over to score. Teitzel misses her first attempt of the afternoon and it's a 28-0 lead.

Chelsea Lenarduzzi Try

17th min:  And another. Hayley Maddick is the next Bronco over the line, getting their chance to continue attacking the Titans line after a high kick from Gayle Broughton proved too hard to handle for the home side. The Broncos then swing the ball out to their right, with Julia Robinson getting a flick pass away to her winger who runs back in and over the line. Teitzel again flawless with the boot and the Broncos are galloping away with a 24-0 lead.

13th min: All too easy for the Broncos so far with Bree Spreadborough getting their third in quick succession. This one came off the back of a line drop out and the lock using some footwork and fighting her way over the line. Teitzel gets another easy conversion for a big 18-0 lead.

Bree Spreadborough Try

10th min: Tamika Upton makes it back-to-back tries for the Broncos, with some great work through the middle from the team with a break and passes going out to their left and thn back inside for their star fullback. Teitzel converts again for a 12-0 lead.

7th min: Jada Ferguson gets the first try of the afternoon for the visitors, taking a run from dummyhalf and catching the marker defence off. Romy Teitzel converts the kick for a 6-0 lead.

Jada Ferguson Try

Kick off: The Titans have the first use of the ball in the double header at Cbus Super Stadium.

Late Mail

Titans: A big out for the Titans on game day with star back Jaime Chapman ruled out with hamstring tightness. Debutant Lily Patston, orignally named on the wing, will play fullback while Jasmine Solia will shift from the bench to the wing. Queensland Under 19 representative Takoda Thompson is a late call-up to make her NRLW debut after joining the bench. The reshuffle comes after winger Destiny Mino-Sinapati (syndesmosis) was ruled out, with Taliah Fuimaono moving from five-eighth to hooker to cover for Brittany Breayley-Nati (fractured collarbone). Pauline Piliae-Rasabale is the new No.6 partnering with Lauren Brown in the halves. Canada Ravens rep Megan Pakulis makes her NRLW debut off the bench. Pakulis was one of the winners of the Las Vegas Combine in 2024, going on to play a season in the UK Super League before joining with the Titans this year.

Broncos: Only one change with highly regarded youngster Reegan Hicks coming onto the bench in place of Tafito Lafaele. Hicks, who can play second row and prop, recently co-captained the Queensland Under 19s. New Zealand rugby union convert Azalleyah Maaka has been named as 18th player. No changes on game day.

Warriors v Eels at Go Media Stadium

Warriors v Eels – Round 2, 2025

Eels: Round 2

Warriors: Round 2

Full-time: It's a comprehensive 14-0 victory for the Warriors in their NRLW homecoming, with Michaela Brake a standout performer with over 200 running metres and a couple of line breaks. Perhaps most pleasing though for coach Ronnie Griffiths will be the defensive effort, which saw his side propel plenty of good attacking raids. Despite the lopsided scoreline, most of the key stat categories were very even, leaving the Eels with plenty to like about the performance despite the loss.

70 min: It's just not Parramatta's day. A kick goes across field to Zali Fay, but she can't bring it in.

68 min: The Eels are throwing plenty at the Warriors to try and get a consolation try here, but the home team continue to stand strong.

65 min: A piece of solo brilliance from Rachael Pearson almost nets Parra their first points. The veteran No.7 kicks for herself and regathers, before flinging a pass wide to Zali Fay. But the winger can't handle it and the ball rolls into touch.

63 min: Warriors centre Emmanita Paki crashes over the line, but the ball never touches the turf. Parramatta hold on - just. That was the last tackle, so it's a handover.

59 min: Martha Mataele wins the battle for a high ball that shuts down another Warriors attack.

57 min: The Warriors finally break through the staunch Parramatta defence, with Tysha Ikenasio getting on the end of a short grubber from Emily Curtain. Patricia Maliepo adds the extras to put the hosts out to a three-score lead. 14-0 Warriors.

52 min: Parramatta on the attack here as the game is paused while a Warriors player is attended to for a facial cut.

46 min: The visitors put together a decent set, but Rachael Pearson kicks dead.

44 min: While Parramatta have been guilty of poor handling so far, with 10 errors through 44 minutes, the Warriors' discipline has been bad too, with the penalty count sitting at 4-0 and the Eels yet to infringe.

41 min: The Eels have started with a spring in their step after the break. They force a dropout but are unable to capitalise.

Half time: It's the Warriors who lead 8-0 after two converted tries, but given some of the chances they've had, coach Ronnie Griffiths may feel they ought to be up by more at the break. Michaela Brake is looking dangerous whenever she touches the ball and already has two line breaks and 100 metres to her name. The Eels have defended well after a couple of early hiccups and will be pleased to be right in the contest with 35 to go.

35 min: The Eels are over the line, but referee Ziggy Przeklasa-Adamski says back you come. There's a forward pass in the lead up. It remains 8-0 to the Warriors.

29 min: Clean drop from Kaiyah Atai and another poor turnover. The Warriors have struggled in good-ball situations since that opening burst.

28 min: Michaela Brake is inches away from a second, but some brilliant last-ditch defence from the Eels sees her held up. Brake knocks on in the act of trying to ground the ball. Huge play from the visitors.

27 min: The greasy conditions in Auckland are playing a part, with both sides struggling with their hands. Nine combined errors so far, six of them from Parra.

24 min: Martha Mataele plays at a kick right up against the sideline and her momentum carries her into touch. Huge possession gift coming up for the Warriors, who start this set 10 out from the line.

18 min: A sloppy penalty from the hosts, who are pinged for taking too long to pack the scrum. Parramatta go on the attack with the set starting 20 out from their try-line.

17 min: Abbi Church almost puts Martha Mataele away down the right, but Payton Takimoana is aware of the move and picks the pass off.

16 min: The Warriors are throwing plenty at the Eels, but the visitors look much more organised in defence now.

12 min: Parramatta enjoy a prolonged period of possession in the opposition red zone, but the Warriors hold them out and go back on the attack.

8 min: A close call that time for the Eels after Emily Curtain stabs a kick through. Tysha Ikenasio is first to the ball but can't handle the pick up cleanly.

6 min: Another try for the Warriors - this time down the left wing through Payton Takimoana. It comes after an unforced turnover from Parramatta, who had no answer when the Warriors went wide this time around. The kick is once again no good, so it's 8-0.

Payton Takimoana Try

4 min: Too much enthusiasm on the kick chase following the try and the Warriors are pinged. But Parramatta then drop it immediately from the tap and hand the ball back to the hosts.

2 min: A first NRLW try for cross-code superstar Michaela Brake and the Warriors are on the board at Go Media Stadium! The kick is short and it's 4-0.

Michaela Brake Try

1 min: Disastrous start for the Eels who cough up possession with their first touch.

1 min: After a stirring pre-match ceremony, which included the Warriors making the traditional club entry through the tunnel connecting the No.2 and No.1 fields, we are underway in Auckland.

New Zealand welcomes back their team
