Ryan Hinchcliffe appointed Samoa Assistant Coach

Melbourne Storm is proud to announce Assistant Coach Ryan Hinchcliffe has been appointed to the Rugby League Samoa coaching staff for the 2025 Pacific Championships.

Hinchcliffe will join Head Coach Ben Gardiner’s Toa Samoa team as an Assistant Coach, bringing a wealth of experience as both a player and a coach.

A Storm Life Member and Premiership winner, Hinchcliffe played 175 games in the purple jersey over seven seasons. After retiring in 2018, he returned to the Club as a Development Coach and was promoted to Storm Assistant Coach in 2021.

Speaking on his appointment, Hinchcliffe said: “I’m really excited to be joining the Toa Samoa coaching staff and to take this next step in my personal development as a coach. It’s a great opportunity to work with a passionate group of international players and be part of a proud rugby league nation.”

Storm General Manager of Football, Frank Ponissi, added: “We’re thrilled to see Ryan appointed to the Toa Samoa coaching ranks. He has worked incredibly hard during his time at Storm, and this international opportunity is a great reflection of his dedication and ability.

“We always encourage our players and staff to be part of representative and international teams, their growth on the highest stage makes them better, and ultimately makes us better. We’re confident Ryan will make a great impact for Toa Samoa.”

Hinchcliffe will link up with Toa Samoa for the 2025 Pacific Championships and will return to Melbourne Storm for the 2026 preseason.
