
Tonga Rugby League is set to appoint a new women's coach for the 2025 Pacific Championships.
After being eliminated from RLWC2026 contention by Samoa in last year's qualifying match in Fiji, Tonga is now focusing on the end-of-season Pacific Championships and .
The successful applicant will take charge of Tonga in Pacific Cup fixtures against Cook Islands and Papua New Guinea in October and November.
Tonga is also aiming to qualify for the next Women's World Cup in 2028 and has an increasing number of players in the NRLW.
Among them are Bulldogs forwards Tegan Dymock and Pani Hopoate, Eels playmaker Cassey Tohi-Hiku, Titans prop Natasha Penitani and Cowboys sensation Ana Malupo.

After playing New Zealand in a mid-year Test in 2022 and Pacific Championships matches in 2023 against the Kiwi Ferns and 2024 against Samoa, more Tongan women and girls are now showcasing their talent on the world stage.
The Pacific nation is also focused on developing domestic talent and the Tongan Schoolgirls team won all three matches on an historic tour to Australia last season.
The captain of the Tongan Schoolgirls team, Vasaliva Feleti, joined the Panthers and was a member of this year's Lisa Fiaola Cup team which made the finals.
